This etching was my first image using the color of Wisconsin snow at day's end. I imagined that I was up in a hayloft at sunset, peeking through a crack between barnboards, observing deer moving in the shadows. Created shortly after my father's death, a memorial to William Hunt is included among the tiny writings scribed into the copper plate. It is one of the most difficult etchings to color. It's sister image is "Late Morning," printed from the same plate but handpainted with daytime colors.
